I have a question about the “expiration_date” field. Currently, it only allows for a single, specific expiration date per product. I work for a non-profit in the Netherlands focused on preventing food waste.
One of our initiatives is a date-labelling coalition that uses two different icons on product packaging to give consumers the right action-perspective for that product:

Look, smell, taste (eye, nose, and mouth icon) – for products that may still be fine to consume past the printed date

Stop consuming (stop hand icon) – for products that should not be consumed past the printed date
I’m looking for a way to label products based on which of these two categories they fall into, tied to their expiration date. Distinguishing between these two date types would let us build a much richer database, helping consumers make better decisions and reduce food waste.
Does anyone know if something like this already exists? And if not, would it be feasible to set something like this up?
