community is at the heart of Open Food Facts. The project, which benefits millions of people around the world, relies heavily on the efforts of passionate contributors, who offer their time & skills to help the food database grow every day! 
One of the dreams of Open Food Facts is to see communities emerge to promote food transparency in many countries at a local level.
Why? Because local communities better understand their citizens, their culture, their socio-economic context, their traditions and, of course, speak the local language. Many important initiatives also originate within smaller groups.
