Create a Table by the header

Hello,

I am 61 years old, a retired neurologist, I have been reading Dietetics manuals for the last 2 years…

Thank you for your wonderful site!

Please help me create a Table by the header for food products, products should not be combined with other products, only a separate ingredient (if it is Peas, then without oil and salt, if Apple, then without sugar, i.e. a separate product)

I am familiar with databases and API at an amateur level, so do it in Excel or csv.

Hello Evgeny and welcome on the forum,

Thanks for your interest and your support. There are many databases around the world which are dealing with raw products: Foundation Foods by the USDA in the USA, Ciqual in France, etc. They might better fit to your need.

If you want to use Open Food Facts to do this you can try our tool Mirabelle, which allow to extract data with SQL queries. Here is an example of query asking for the first 21 products from the United States, without data quality errors, with some of the fields you’ve asked for.

If you have a bit of data/SQL skills, you’ll be able to easily adapt the query.

You can make your own filters thanks to the “where” clause, using the “main_category”.
These data can be exported thanks to the button “CSV without limit”.

But, again, I’m not sure that’s what you ask. Do you want the nutrional tables of products or categories? If you’re interested by nutritional data related to categories, you should use the other databases I mentioned earlier.

Thank you Charles!

It was a pleasure for me to unexpectedly receive a detailed answer from such a respected person!

My desire to help more people including nutritionists, therefore I wanted to use the official Databases from INFOODS: FAO/INFOODS Databases
and their ordering in accordance with the universal header of the Tables. It was interesting for me to discover that link Download FoodData Central Data does not contain Iodine, Chromium… in food products, although in Denmark the content of these microelements is frida.fooddata.dk

I will not expand on topics such as “Food as a medicine”, “Evidence-based medicine”, I will only note that in scientific publications about the Mediterranean diet, for example: link PMC9317652
there are no indications of the content of chemical elements (header Table) daily intake (weekly indicators…) therefore the results are not entirely accurate.

Therefore, I propose a Project (additional page), for example: specialist.openfoodfacts.org
where all official tables will be collected. This will help nutritionists and advanced users.
Add data on RDA by country, screenshot below for RDA USA.

My knowledge of SQL queries is limited, I don’t know if it is possible to find a filter Between (Excel), where zero or empty cell (no data for today) is, that is, there is any number.

Creating such a resource will probably increase employee salaries by 500%

Sincerely,
Evgeny
