Guideline #8 in their list of 17 emphasizes obtaining good quality proteins and essential amino acids (EAAs) through appropriate food combinations and discourages the use of protein supplements for muscle building, citing potential dangers associated with prolonged intake of large amounts of protein powders or consumption of high-protein concentrates, such as bone mineral loss and kidney damage.
