For some reason I need to log in almost every day anew, which is annoying. I use password manager so it is annoying, but I can āignoreā that. But if it happens to usual internet users, it will totally break their OFF using/contributing experience. Because most of them donāt use password managers. That means, every day they need to call to mind their account password and enter it manually to be able to use the OFF website comfortably. Especially with these ābot-limitsā that were added in last time and limit usual users as well making it hard to use the main website without having an account. And in every project you need to log in separately (OOF, OPF, OBF, Wiki etc), so it is more than 1 re-login every day, if you take part in many projects.
I started this journal only yesterday (2026-05-24), but it happens to me from the moment I started to be a contributor (January/February). Same device, same browser profile/session (no incognito tabs), the checkbox āRemember meā is chosen.
By the way, login on openfoodfacts and openproductsfacts are indeed different (due to a technical constraint).
I also want to say that other users (like me) are not experiencing this bug. Do you eventually know if your ip adresse is changing (test with something like https://www.whatismyip.com/) ?
Hi! I have dynamic ip address, that changes every day. Maybe I see the reason now. At least, I see the possible logic here
As I wrote, it is annoying for me, but not too much, because I use password manager so it takes 10 seconds maximum. But for other users it can be much more critical and annoying
I need to relogin on the website every time I use the Android app:
Login on the website,
modify a product on the Android app,
go back to the website and find out Iām logged out now.
Also I have a static IP address on my computer so thatās not the issue. Even my phone would have the same (public) IP address since itās connected to the WiFi network. As far as I can tell the issue is that one can only be logged in from one ādeviceā at a time.
Even though I have a static IP address, I keep getting logged out of the OFF website. Sometimes I stay logged in for 10 minutes, sometimes for just 10 seconds. And thatās no exaggeration. It makes no difference whether I tick the āstay logged inā box or not.
Clearly, something on your server has been completely misconfigured. Itās particularly annoying because it can happen right in the middle of editing or uploading images, and my posts then appear in the history under āOpenfoodfacts-Contributorā instead of under my account ā which, of course, canāt be changed afterwards.
As long as a session cookie is provided then the IP address shouldnāt matter. The code that checked for a matching IP address was removed 3 years ago
